Dress code for OSCE and PACES
As our clinical examinations take place on NHS Trust premises we are required to adhere to Trust rules. Therefore the dress code for all summative clinical examinations in 2012 will be strictly bare below the elbow (wedding/engagement ring only). No tie or any item that would dangle on the patient during the examination will be permitted.
You will require your student ID card to register for the examination, but will not be permitted to wear this during the examination on a lanyard. You will be required to wear your Imperial name badge as provided by Charing Cross FEO for your clinical attachments.

How to order a replacement badge

We wish all of our candidates to be comfortable and appropriately dressed for the examinations that they are taking, so we offer the following advice. Within the rules above you are still expected to be dressed smartly and appropriately for examining patients. Suit jackets are acceptable, as long as you remove your jacket before you examine each patient. You will be permitted to wear either a long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up, or a short-sleeve shirt. These should be in business colours and appropriate for the occasion. We would advise female students to be aware of the length of their skirts and avoid any low cut tops. Bare midriffs are not advised.

Hand hygiene
You are strongly advised to be aware of hand hygiene in all clinical examinations. You are expected to treat models, actors and volunteers as real patient contact and interaction.
You are advised not to shake hands with any examiners or observers in the station. A polite nod will suffice as a greeting. Examiners will be informed that this is the advice we have given.
