Intimate examinations

Students are reminded that it is absolutely essential to obtain consent from every patient (including those anaesthetised) before it is permissible to perform an internal examination on them. In all circumstances, you require chaperoning by a staff member/supervisor.

Assessment Assessment forms
Formative (in-course) assessment Procedure forms
Please note that it is a condition of your entry to the end-of-year written examination in Obstetrics and Gynaecology that you submit the Obstetrics and Gynaecology logbook and assessment forms by the end of the Friday of the final week of the firm. You must ensure that you have discussed your performance on the firm with your tutor/firm leader and that they have signed off your logbook prior to its submission. Logbooks must be submitted to the course administrator at Chelsea and Westminster NOT the FEO.
The portfolio contains the assessment forms for 4 Mini-CEX (Clinical Evaluation Exercises). The Mini-CEX is a 15 minute snapshot of an actual clinical encounter. Strengths, areas for development and agreed action points should be identified following each mini-CEX encounter. You will need to get one of the doctors on your firm (SpRs, specialist associate/staff grades, consultant to assess you; at least one of the Mini-CEX should be with the supervising firm leader/consultant.
You will also be required to complete 3 DOPs (Directly Observed Procedures). This is very similar to a Mini-CEX in its requirements and duration but differs in the fact it is split into two parts.

The completed assessment forms are kept in your portfolio and will be handed in at the end along with your logbook.

Assessment forms - this is a separate form that you must complete and send direct to the FEO at Charing Cross campus.
