Module 2: Neurological and psychiatric disorders of the central nervous system

Further guidance for Module 2 ICA
This ICA is a Review for a scientific Journal, such as Trends in Neuroscience/ Molecular Medicine but with 2,500 word limit.
Title:  What is the role of neuroinflammation in Parkinson’s disease: its effects in neurodegeneration and tissue repair?
The format for essay should be:
Abstract: 150 words (Allocation of marks for this section = 10%)
Introduction: Provide a general introduction to Parkinson’s disease (PD), neuroinflammation and the principal cell types which mediate the innate inflammatory response in relation to PD. Also include an outline of the plan of your essay.
(Allocation of marks for this section = 25%)
This part of an essay is always very important as it provides a clear structure for the essay and shows that the content has been well planned and is presented in a logical format.
Main text: (Allocation of marks for this section = 55%). This should include evidence from human studies and animal models of PD and discuss whether anti-inflammatory agents represent a suitable therapeutic target for treating PD.

Conclusions and references: (Allocation of marks for this section = 10%)
It is useful to include figures if they enhance the text but remember to cite the references if you are using published figures.
