American Society of Clinical Pathologists  

The British Medical Acupuncture Society

The British Medical Acupuncture Society was formed in 1980 as an association of medical practitioners interested in acupuncture. There are now 1700 members who use acupuncture in hospital or general practice. The BMAS promotes the use of acupuncture as a therapy following orthodox medical diagnosis by suitably trained practitioners.
Internet Dermatology Society  
The Medical Protection Society A mutual association of doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals which is run by doctors and dentists for the benefit of healthcare professionals around the world. It is not an insurance company, but it offers indemnity against adverse awards of costs and damages on what is know as an 'occurrence' basis.

The Orthopaedic Research Society

The purposes of the ORS are to promote, support, develop and encourage research in orthopaedic surgery, musculoskeletal diseases, musculoskeletal injuries and disciplines related thereto; to provide, encourage, develop and sponsor educational activities related to the foregoing; and to provide forums for dissemination of knowledge in these fields.
Royal Society of Medicine The RSM is an independent, apolitical organisation, founded nearly 200 years ago. Its aims are to provide a broad range of educational activities and opportunities for doctors, dentists, and veterinary surgeons, including students of these disciplines, and allied health-care professionals, and to promote an exchange of information and ideas on the science, practice and organisation of medicine, both within the health professions and with responsible and informed public opinion

Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene

The Society promotes health through the study, control and prevention of tropical diseases in man and animals. Objectives include facilitation of discussion and the exchange of information amongst interested parties.
Society for Academic Emergency Medicine The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine's (SAEM) mission is to foster emergency medicine's academic environment in research, education, and health policy through forums, publications, inter-organizational collaboration, policy development, and consultation services for teachers, researchers, and students.

The Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists

The SCA, an international organization of physicians, promotes excellence in patient care through education and research in perioperative care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular procedures.

Society of Critical Care Medicine

The Society of Critical Care Medicine is a multidisciplinary, multispecialty, international organization whose mission is to secure the highest quality care for all critically ill patients by promoting the superiority of a multidisciplinary, ICU-based, intensivist-directed team for delivery of the highest quality, cost-efficient critical care.

Society of Gynecologic Oncologists

The SGO is a non-profit, international organization made up of obstetricians and gynecologists specializing in gynecologic oncology. Its purpose is to improve the care of women with gynecologic cancer, to raise standards of practice in gynecologic oncology and to encourage ongoing research.

Society for Paediatric Pathology

The Society for Pediatric Pathology, founded in 1965, is an educational and scientific organization of physicians and scientists who share a common interest in this vital field. It is the aim of the Society to foster research, education, and practice as they pertain to pediatric pathology, and to provide a forum for discourse among its members.

American Medical Association The AMA develops and promotes standards in medical practice, research, and education; serves as advocate on behalf of physicians and patients; and provides information on health matters. The site includes a reference library of information about diseases and substance abuse, and "physician select," an index of virtually every licensed physician in the United States. 
Association of Medical Research Charities  
British Medical Association The British Medical Association is a professional association of doctors, representing their interests and providing services for its 122,000 plus members. This includes almost 4,000 from overseas and 11,500 who are medical students. More than 80% of British doctors are members. It is an independent trade union, a scientific and educational body, a publishing house and a limited company, funded largely by its members

Institute for Molecular Virology The Institute for Molecular Virology is a research institute devoted to fundamental research in virology on the University of Wisconsin Madison Campus. Contains online articles, multimedia library and tutorials.
National Institute on Aging The NIA leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. In 1974, Congress granted authority to form the National Institute on Aging to provide leadership in aging research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs relevant to aging and older people. Subsequent amendments to this legislation designated the NIA as the primary federal agency on Alzheimer’s disease research. 
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) had its origins in the earliest days of the Public Health Service in the US. Today, NIAID provides the major support for scientists conducting research aimed at developing better ways to diagnose, treat and prevent the many infectious, immunologic and allergic diseases that afflict people worldwide.
National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal & Skin Diseases NIAMS is a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), within the U.S. Government. NIAMS leads the Federal effort on research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of arthritis and musculoskeletal and skin diseases, the training of basic and clinical scientists to carry out this research, and the dissemination of information on research progress to improve public health.
National Institute for Clinical Effectiveness  
National Institute of Health (USA) The NIH is one of the world's foremost medical research centers, and the Federal focal point for medical research in the U.S. The NIH is one of eight health agencies of the Public Health Services which, in turn, is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. 

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke

NINDS conducts, fosters, coordinates, and guides research on the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological disorders and stroke, and supports basic research in related scientific areas.

Other Organisations  
Medical Defence Union The MDU was founded on the principle 'by doctors, for doctors' and is a mutual, non-profit making organisation owned by its members - doctors, dentists, nurses and other healthcare professionals. It is not an insurance company. Its primary role is to provide members with access to indemnity and to advice and assistance with ethical and medico-legal problems 24 hours a day. The MDU defends the professional reputations of its members when their clinical skills are called into question, paying legal costs in the civil courts, professional tribunals and criminal courts on their behalf. They can also pay damages to patients who have suffered because of a medical mishap during their treatment.
Medical Research Council The MRC aims to improve health by promoting research into all areas of medical and related science. It supports medical research in three main ways: through its research establishments; grants to individual scientists; and support for post graduate students. 
Medical Women's Federation The MWF works to change discriminatory attitudes and practices, and aims to achieve real equality by providing practical, personal help from members who know the hurdles and have overcome them. Members are offered advice and support in their careers from experienced women doctors. 

UK Xenotransplantation Interim Regulatory Authority

Xenotransplantation is the transplantation of tissue and organs between different species, and in particular the transplantation of animal tissue into humans. The Government is advised on these issues by the United Kingdom Xenotransplantation Interim Regulatory Authority (UKXIRA). Includes  some draft publications.
