Elective reports by previous students may be found in the FEO at St Mary’s. Some elective reports are also available on-line - archive of reports. Students are also advised to speak to students in the years above them about their elective experiences.

Students are recommended to look at these as they provide useful first hand information, and will help you in deciding where to go for your elective.

Having undertaken some research students should then approach their Personal Tutors for advice as to whether their proposed plans are appropriate. Once plans have been agreed, the Approval Form should be completed and signed by the personal tutor. See the projects web page for further guidance and contact lists for help.

The completed Risk assessment and Approval form, after being signed by your Personal tutor, should be sent to Wendy Pearson in the FEO at St Mary’s, who will submit the proposal to the Elective Co-ordinator or Deputy for approval.

NB: When organising electives students are advised that they must go through an official channel and not rely on plans organised by contacts and friends.

When the elective is confirmed, the tutor must sign the Approval form

Changing your plan: If at any time you need to change your plans, you must inform your hosts and Wendy Pearson in good time.
